FREE virtual training: Mental health first aid - for anyone involved in the COVID-19 response

Updated: May 4, 2020

It's been a frantic six days - I've been designing RedR's first ever virtual training in mental health first aid specifically for COVID-19 responders. It's two hours long and it's free. Last night I delivered it for the first time and it was actually really great - we used Zoom which turned out to be really good for interaction.

The best bit about this training is that it's open to anyone involved in COVID-19 response, professionally or as a volunteer, or just because you are managing or supporting others who are struggling through your work.

In 2 hours we go over: what's so stressful about COVID and the ways people react, how to manage stress in yourself, and how to support others who are having a tough time. It's practical, pragmatic and aimed at building confidence as well as knowledge. So if you or anyone you know would be interested, here are the dates below and the link to sign up. I'm teaching most of the evening ones, others are doing the morning.

PLEASE sign up yourselves if you're interested - it's aimed for responders but actually just as useful for those of us who are providing support to family and friends. And feel free to share among your local volunteer groups - in fact share like mad, the more sign ups the more likely the project will keep going. There will be more dates in May which I will post.

18 April 2020 (18:00-20:00) 22 April 2020 (18:00-20:00) 24 April 2020 (10:00-12:00) 24 April 2020 (18:00-20:00) 26 April 2020 (10:00-12:00)
